en.Wedoany.com Reported - Agility Robotics has opened a new 60,000-square-foot facility in Fremont, California, serving as its Physical AI development center. Located near the heart of Silicon Valley, the facility will collaborate with the company's RoboFab production base in Salem, Oregon, focusing on advancing the development and deployment of next-generation AI capabilities for the humanoid robot Digit.
The center will house nearly 200 current and newly hired employees across hardware engineering, AI/ML software engineering, and field operations, aiming to enhance Digit's safety and productivity in enterprise environments. CEO Peggy Johnson stated that being rooted in Silicon Valley allows the company to access the world's top AI talent and innovation ecosystem, accelerating the development of new Digit features and rapid delivery to customers.
Currently, Agility Robotics has deployed humanoid robots at companies including Schaeffler, GXO, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, and Mercado Libre. The company has secured multi-phase orders for Digit v5 exceeding $300 million, contingent on achieving contract milestones; meanwhile, its customer pipeline has expanded to over 30 companies and continues to grow, reflecting increased demand for large-scale humanoid robot deployment. The Fremont facility will support these orders and drive automation of repetitive, physically intensive tasks in warehouses and manufacturing plants through AI-based continuous safety and productivity enhancements.
Fremont Mayor Raj Salwan stated in a statement that the company's choice to establish an AI development center locally reflects the city's talent base, innovation culture, and leadership in advanced manufacturing and robotics. He welcomed Agility Robotics to the community and recognized the project's contribution of nearly 200 high-quality jobs and ongoing investment in Fremont.
Agility Robotics plans to go public through a business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI (Nasdaq: CCXI), becoming the first pure-play humanoid robot company listed in the United States. This facility expansion is part of that listing plan.
