en.Wedoany.com Reported - A tripartite collaboration has emerged in the field of offshore wind balance of plant (BoP) operation and maintenance in South Korea. Renewable energy consultancy OWC, South Korean energy management company KLEM (Korea Leading Energy Management), and offshore energy service provider OEG have signed a memorandum of understanding to jointly provide BoP operation and maintenance services for the South Korean offshore wind industry.

Under the agreement, KLEM will serve as the main contractor for BoP operation and maintenance services, OWC will be responsible for technical assurance and asset management services, and OEG will provide marine, underwater, and offshore operational support. The three parties stated that this collaboration aims to offer integrated BoP O&M solutions for offshore wind operators in South Korea.

South Korea has set a target of achieving 25 GW of offshore wind installed capacity by 2035. As more projects enter the operational phase, asset owners need to balance reliability, performance, and long-term value. William Cleverly, CEO of OWC, noted that by integrating OWC's technical assurance expertise, KLEM's operational delivery capabilities, and OEG's specialized marine and underwater capabilities, this partnership provides owners with an integrated BoP O&M solution, laying the foundation for informed asset management decisions and supporting the optimization of South Korea's offshore wind infrastructure in terms of performance, integrity, and lifecycle value.

Boo Jeonghwan, CEO of KLEM, added that the goal is to provide developers and asset owners with comprehensive BoP asset inspection, maintenance, integrity management, and lifecycle support solutions, achieving a more integrated approach through the combination of complementary expertise to ensure the long-term reliability and performance of BoP assets.

David Carr, Chief Commercial Officer of OEG, stated that the offshore environment poses unique challenges for BoP asset inspection and maintenance. As part of the team with KLEM and OWC, they can help South Korean asset owners gain a more comprehensive understanding of asset conditions, strengthen integrity management plans, and support safe and efficient operations throughout the asset lifecycle.
