The project primarily offers two-storey family homes, each with a private rear garden, all designated for social rent to address local housing shortages.

The design prioritises sustainability and accessibility, with plans to incorporate air source heat pumps, rooftop solar panels, and electric vehicle charging points for each home. The proposal also includes four wheelchair-accessible homes.

Since late 2023, Glasgow has declared a housing emergency due to sustained growth in housing demand. The city currently has over 6,000 active housing applications, with more than 4,200 households living in temporary accommodation.

Paul Kelly, Managing Director of AS Homes Scotland, stated that delivering high-quality affordable housing is the company's top priority, and this proposal represents a positive step towards increasing the city's new housing supply. Through collaboration with Home Group, the brownfield site will be redeveloped into a well-designed, sustainable project.

Briony Willett, Director of Home Group Scotland, noted that submitting the planning application will help partners deliver much-needed affordable homes in Glasgow's East End. The design balances sustainability and accessibility, including six wheelchair-accessible homes, to better serve customers and the community. She looks forward to advancing the project once planning approval is granted.
