en.Wedoany.com Reported - NHPC Limited's Teesta-V hydropower station in Sikkim, India, has resumed full-load operation. The company confirmed that Unit 3 (170MW) of the station resumed commercial operation on July 16, 2026, bringing all three 170MW generating units into operation and fully utilizing the total installed capacity of 510MW.
According to NHPC, Unit 3 was first synchronized with the Indian national grid on July 15 and successfully passed full-load testing at its rated capacity of 170MW the following day. Previously, natural disasters in Sikkim in October 2023 severely impacted hydropower infrastructure in the Teesta River basin, causing the station to suspend operations for an extended period. With the repair and grid connection of the final unit, the Teesta-V hydropower station has fully resumed commercial operation.
NHPC Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta stated that the restoration work fully demonstrated the company's technical expertise and the efforts of its engineering and operations teams to resume project operations. He noted that the station's return to full-load power generation will help ensure India's energy security and promote the development of renewable energy in the country.
