en.Wedoany.com Reported - American Airlines has added 9 summer routes from Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), including 3 domestic and 6 international routes. These new routes not only target point-to-point traffic but also aim to leverage DFW's hub status, encouraging passengers from these destinations to transit through Texas to other U.S. cities.
In Europe, American Airlines has added two routes. Zurich Airport (ZRH) is a returning destination, last served in 2007, with flights operated by Boeing 777-200ER, daily from May 21 to August 3. Athens Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (ATH) has never been served by American Airlines from DFW before; this year, flights are operated by 777-200ER and 777-300ER, daily from May 21 to September 7. The departure and arrival times for both routes are as follows: Athens route departs at 4:00 PM, arrives the next day at 11:45 AM; return departs at 2:00 PM, arrives at 7:00 PM. Zurich route departs at 2:40 PM, arrives the next day at 7:35 AM; return departs at 9:45 AM, arrives at 1:40 PM.

Jim Moses, Senior Vice President of DFW Operations at American Airlines, said: "The new routes to Athens and Zurich are examples of how American Airlines continues to invest in its largest hub, providing more opportunities to connect to global destinations."
Internationally, American Airlines has also added two long-haul routes to South America in its DFW summer schedule. Buenos Aires (EZE) and Rio de Janeiro (GIG) had no flights in the third quarter and are now resuming operations. The Rio de Janeiro route typically operates only in winter, and it has been 12 years since it last flew from DFW in the third quarter; a one-time rotation using Boeing 787-8 in September barely provides service in the third quarter. The Buenos Aires route operates 18 flights in July and 2 flights in August, also using the 234-seat Boeing 787-8. In terms of nearby North American destinations, American Airlines has added third-quarter flights to Loreto, Mexico (LTO), which are operated year-round mostly by Envoy Air's Embraer E175 regional jets under the American Eagle brand, with frequencies doubling during peak winter season. Puerto Escondido (PXM) is another new Mexican destination from DFW for American Airlines, with these E175-operated flights running twice weekly.

Domestically, American Airlines has added third-quarter flights from DFW to Gunnison (GUC) for the first time, a route typically only available in winter. These flights, operated by Airbus A319, will run daily from July 1 to September 8. Additionally, American Airlines has added two entirely new domestic routes from DFW: Lincoln (LNK) and Roanoke (ROA). The former is operated by SkyWest Airlines' Bombardier CRJ700 regional jets under the American Eagle brand, with two daily flights, while the latter uses PSA Airlines' larger Bombardier CRJ900, with one daily flight.
