en.Wedoany.com Reported - Northumbrian Water is launching a £6.9 million AMP8 project at Selset Reservoir in County Durham, aimed at enhancing the long-term resilience of water treatment for customers in Teesdale and the surrounding areas.

Some preparatory work was carried out on site earlier this year, with full construction set to begin after the nesting season and lasting up to 18 months. The project includes updating on-site pipes and related infrastructure to improve flow management to Lartington Water Treatment Works. The work is being undertaken by Northumbrian Water's partner, Esh-Stantec.

Sophie Hudspeth, Project Manager at Northumbrian Water, said the investment will ensure that Selset Reservoir continues to supply water to customers in Teesdale and the wider County Durham area for many years to come. Built 65 years ago, Selset Reservoir will remain part of the region's water network. Like other reservoirs, Selset is also an important facility for attracting visitors to Teesdale for leisure and outdoor health benefits. The public will still be able to visit Selset during the works, with restricted areas kept to a minimum.
