en.Wedoany.com Reported - Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, on behalf of Carmarthenshire and Monmouthshire County Councils, has issued a £270 million South Wales Trunk Road Agency (SWTRA) Highway and Structures Framework 2027, covering road, bridge maintenance, and pavement works in South Wales.

The framework will run for four years from February 2027, with an option to extend annually for up to two additional years, for a maximum of six years. Up to eight contractors will be appointed across two lots.

Lot 1, valued at an estimated £152 million, covers highway and structural works, including bridge strengthening, carriageway maintenance, active travel schemes, tunnel works, traffic management, lighting, intelligent transport systems, environmental improvements, and depot projects.

Lot 2, valued at £118 million, focuses on highway pavement and ancillary works, including pavement renewal, drainage, kerbs, footways, road markings, site clearance, and emergency maintenance.

The authority stated that the longer framework duration will improve value for money by providing contractors with greater investment certainty, while supporting long-term asset management plans and complex infrastructure projects.

The SWTRA Highway and Structures Framework 2027 will primarily serve the South Wales Strategic Road Network, covering areas including Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan, Swansea, Bridgend, Neath Port Talbot, Carmarthenshire, Monmouthshire, Newport, and Gwent Valleys.

Formal invitations to tender will be issued on September 7, with awards scheduled for early December. The framework is set to commence on February 1, 2027.
