China's Xiangdao Chuxing Launches Robotaxi Mass-Production Custom Vehicle Project

en.Wedoany.com Reported - At the "Digital Intelligence Driving Model Speed Smart Travel" High-Level Autonomous Driving Innovation and Development Forum of the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference, China's Xiangdao Chuxing officially announced on July 19, 2026, the launch of the SAIC Robotaxi mass-production custom vehicle project. The project is jointly promoted by Xiangdao Chuxing, SAIC Group, and leading intelligent driving manufacturers, with the new vehicle planned to debut in 2027.

Xiangdao Chuxing is a mobile travel strategic brand under SAIC Group, covering product lines such as chauffeured rides, taxis, carpooling, personal car rental, designated driving, and corporate car rental. At the forum site, Xiangdao Chuxing CEO Ni Licheng, SAIC R&D General Hospital Vice President Xie Jiayue, and IM Motors Deputy Chief Technology Officer and Chief Scientist of Intelligent Driving Guo Hui jointly announced that the project has entered a substantive stage.

Officials stated that this Robotaxi custom vehicle will be Shanghai's first high-level autonomous driving pre-installed mass-production custom vehicle and the first pre-installed mass-production Robotaxi model built by the nation's only "billion-level automaker." In terms of project division, SAIC Group is responsible for vehicle production, leading intelligent driving manufacturers for the intelligent driving system, and Xiangdao Chuxing leads product definition and is responsible for operational deployment. With the project entering a substantive stage, Shanghai has taken a significant step toward the commercial implementation of high-level autonomous driving mass-production vehicles.
