The project was developed by Delta Capacity, and both parties jointly stated that the plant is the largest battery energy storage project in Scandinavia.

Delta Capacity acquired the shovel-ready project from RES in February 2025. According to a press release from Centrica Energy in April 2026 announcing the project optimization agreement, Delta Capacity and WOOD & Company Renewables Sub-Fund jointly own the asset through the project company Ånge Storage Solutions AB, with Centrica providing round-the-clock trading and market access services for the plant. Sweden's previous largest energy storage project record was a portfolio comprising 14 sites with a total capacity of 211 MW / 211 MWh, which Swedish officials called the largest energy storage investment in the Nordics when it was commissioned in October 2024, highlighting the rapid turnover of the country's largest energy storage project title. RES, which sold the Ånge project to Delta Capacity, had previously developed another Swedish battery project in 2023, later acquired by Axpo in Landskrona.

Patrik Hes, CEO of Delta Capacity, said that Scandinavia's energy transition requires infrastructure that can keep pace with development, noting that the Ånge project delivered 160 MWh of storage capacity in just 15 months from procurement launch to commercial operation. Patrik Hes stated that Delta Capacity plans to continue building, pursuing even faster speeds and larger scales. According to SolarPower Europe, Sweden and Finland added a combined total of over 1 GWh of battery energy storage capacity in 2025. According to grid operator Svenska kraftnät, Sweden's battery storage can participate in multiple balancing and reserve markets, but must obtain prior qualification certification and meet specific market requirements. Sungrow Europe operates over 25 local offices, two R&D centers, and 26 warehouses across continental Europe. The company stated that as of December 2025, it had installed over 1,000 GW of power electronic inverters globally.
