en.Wedoany.com Reported - A key breakthrough has been achieved in the construction of the 100MW/50.55MWh independent hybrid energy storage project in Yangquan, Shanxi, operated by Xineng Jinhe. All 50 1MW flywheel energy storage devices developed by XEMC (Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd.) have been delivered, and the project has now entered the equipment installation phase, laying the foundation for grid-connected commissioning on schedule.
This project is a key demonstration project for Shanxi's advancement of new-type power system construction and deepening of energy structure transformation. Adopting a hybrid collaborative operation mode of "flywheel energy storage + lithium battery energy storage," the project will serve as an independent grid-side frequency regulation power station upon completion, effectively reducing the start-stop frequency of thermal power units while delivering both economic and ecological benefits.
The delivered megawatt-class flywheel energy storage devices are the core equipment responsible for rapid response in the hybrid energy storage system. Leveraging a high-speed rotating flywheel rotor, the device achieves efficient bidirectional conversion between electrical and kinetic energy, responding to grid frequency fluctuations within milliseconds and precisely suppressing instantaneous power deviations. All devices form a large-scale array specifically designed to handle high-frequency, short-duration frequency regulation demands, reserving sufficient operational windows for the smooth startup and sustained output of lithium iron phosphate batteries, thereby ensuring stable grid operation.

Currently, XEMC has built China's first dedicated production line for MW-class flywheel energy storage systems, forming a full-process manufacturing system covering coil winding, insertion welding, carbon fiber binding, and complete machine testing. With an annual production capacity exceeding 1,000 units, the company is capable of large-scale manufacturing and delivery. Leveraging its comprehensive technical system, XEMC has launched a full series of flywheel energy storage products ranging from 20kW to 3MW, with application scenarios expanding from single grid frequency regulation to rail transit energy recovery, new energy consumption, emergency UPS power supply, AI computing centers, and other fields. In the future, the company will continue to broaden the application boundaries of flywheel energy storage, contributing to the high-quality development of new-type power systems.
