KBR to Provide Technology for Argentina Ammonia Plant with 3,430 Tons per Day Capacity, to Start Production in 2029

en.Wedoany.com Reported - KBR announced that its Purifier® technology has been selected by Argentina's Pampa Energía for a new ammonia fertilizer complex in Bahía Blanca. Under the contract, KBR will provide technology licensing, a basic engineering design package, and proprietary equipment for the construction of an ammonia plant with a daily capacity of 3,430 tons. The plant is expected to commence production by the end of 2029 and will become the largest single-train ammonia plant in Latin America.

The ammonia plant is a core component of the Bahía Blanca ammonia and urea complex. The entire complex is being developed by Pampa Energía through its subsidiary Fértil Pampa, with a total investment of approximately $2.7 billion (about €1.3 billion). In addition to the ammonia plant, the facility will also include two ultra-low energy urea production lines with a combined daily capacity of 6,000 tons (an annual output of approximately 2.1 million tons), making it the largest urea production facility in Latin America upon completion.

KBR will collaborate with Pampa Energía, engineering contractor SACDE, and Tecnimont to advance the project. Tecnimont will be responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction management, SACDE will undertake the construction work, and Nextchem, part of the Maire Group, will provide urea technology licensing and proprietary equipment through Stamicarbon. The entire project is expected to be completed within 41 months.
