This upgrade aims to modernize the signaling infrastructure and enhance operational safety at this busy hub. During the upgrade, several Vande Bharat, Rajdhani, and passenger train services will face cancellations, diversions, or schedule adjustments.

The specific train adjustment plan is as follows: On July 28, Train Nos. 55749/55750, the New Jalpaiguri–Haldibari–New Jalpaiguri passenger service, will be suspended for the entire day. On the same day, Train No. 22301, the Howrah–New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express, will terminate at Kishanganj, with the Kishanganj–New Jalpaiguri section suspended; Train No. 22302, the New Jalpaiguri–Howrah Vande Bharat Express, will originate from Kishanganj instead.
Schedules for several long-distance trains have been adjusted. On July 27, Train No. 14037, the Silchar–New Delhi Express, will be delayed by two hours to depart at 21:10. On July 28, Train No. 12510, the Guwahati–SMVT Bengaluru Express, will have its departure time adjusted from 6:15 to 7:45; Train No. 13142, the New Alipurduar–Shalimar Express, will be delayed by one hour to depart at 12:50. For premium trains, those departing on July 27, including Train Nos. 20504/12424, the New Delhi–Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express, Train Nos. 20505/12423, the Dibrugarh–New Delhi Rajdhani Express, and Train No. 20501, the Agartala–Anand Vihar Terminal Tejas Rajdhani Express, will be diverted via the Aluabari Road–Thakurganj–Siliguri–Gulma route, with a temporary stop at Siliguri Junction.
Additionally, Train No. 15631, the Barmer–Guwahati Express, departing on July 26, may be delayed by approximately 60 minutes. The railway department advises passengers to check the latest stops and timings via the IRCTC website and the Northeast Frontier Railway's official social media accounts before traveling. Once the signaling system upgrade is completed, it is expected to enhance train detection capabilities and operational reliability, enabling smoother traffic management.
