The custom-built facility enables the Australia Post team to process up to 2,400 parcels per day, more than tripling the processing capacity of the previous site and supporting faster, more efficient parcel sorting operations.
The all-electric site is powered by rooftop solar photovoltaic panels and a battery energy storage system, reflecting Australia Post's commitment to building a more sustainable and resilient delivery network.
Khaled Elkhatib, General Manager of Network Operations for Australia Post's "First Mile and Last Mile," said the investment helps ensure regional communities continue to receive reliable and efficient delivery services as parcel volumes grow. He noted that according to Australia Post's latest annual e-commerce report, online spending in South Australia grew by 14% last year to reach AU$5.6 billion. With more people, particularly in regional areas, shopping online, Australia Post will continue to invest in its regional network to adapt to changing demand and evolving customer needs, delivering more reliable services to customers.
Elkhatib said the facility was designed with team safety in mind, enhancing processing capacity and optimizing operations including transport processes. The new facility will help the team load parcels faster and deliver them to customers as efficiently as possible, while also strengthening the ability to support local businesses in reaching more customers and achieving e-commerce growth.
Kadina is the largest town on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, located approximately 144 kilometers north-northwest of Adelaide. The site's strategic location enables effective service to surrounding rural and regional communities.

The opening of the Kadina delivery center reflects Australia Post's continued focus on network upgrades and future-ready planning, aimed at improving service reliability and supporting growing communities in regional areas. The investment is part of Australia Post's broader commitment to South Australia, with the AU$500 million Adelaide Parcel Super Hub currently under development and expected to open in 2028.
Customers can still access postal services at the nearby Kadina Post Office, including free and secure parcel lockers available on-site, allowing customers to collect parcels at their convenience.
