en.Wedoany.com Reported - Locus Agriculture (Locus AG) has launched Bombigro®, a product designed to help growers combat yield losses caused by crop stress. The company found in 55 field trials conducted by third-party research organizations across nine states that this foliar-applied soil amendment increased yields by an average of 5% to 7% across evaluated crops.

With rising production costs and narrowing profit margins, growers need to re-evaluate their agronomic investments. Locus AG defines the cumulative economic impact of environmental conditions, herbicide applications, nutrient limitations, and soil constraints on crop productivity and farm profitability as "stress economics." These stress factors disrupt crop growth, limit yields, and reduce input-use efficiency. The company states that while growers cannot prevent every stress event, they can take steps to help crops maintain productivity and achieve higher returns from resources already invested.

Bombigro® is a foliar-applied soil amendment powered by glycolipids and fermentation-derived metabolites that supports plant metabolism, photosynthetic activity, and energy production. The product can be used as a standalone foliar treatment during critical vegetative or reproductive growth stages, or tank-mixed with compatible crop protection, biological, and nutritional products. After four years of field development and commercial application, Bombigro® has been incorporated into management programs for corn, soybeans, wheat, potatoes, cotton, and specialty crops, helping plants maintain performance under environmental and application-related stress, utilize sunlight, water, and nutrients more efficiently, and drive yield development throughout the growing season.

"Every stress event has an economic consequence," said Jason McGarrh, Vice President of Sales at Locus AG. "Whether it's heat, moisture, herbicide applications, or nutrient availability, stress reduces a crop's ability to reach its full potential. Growers are moving beyond single-product thinking and focusing on stress economics—how to protect yields while improving return on every dollar invested. Bombigro® has become an important tool that complements existing crop programs while helping crops maintain performance through unavoidable stress events."

Over a four-year period, 55 field trials conducted by third-party contract research organizations across nine states showed the following average yield advantages for Bombigro® applied as a standalone foliar treatment compared to untreated controls: corn approximately 10 bushels per acre higher than untreated, soybeans approximately 3 bushels per acre higher, winter wheat approximately 4 bushels per acre higher, spring wheat approximately 7 bushels per acre higher, cotton approximately 120 pounds per acre higher, and potatoes approximately 2,250 pounds per acre higher. When Bombigro® was applied as part of an integrated program with Rhizolizer® Duo—a soil-applied biological product designed to support root development and nutrient uptake—the average yield advantage increased to approximately 13 bushels per acre for corn and approximately 7 bushels per acre for winter wheat.

Rodney Finke, owner of Finke Farms, noted that the farm left a 60-foot by 400-foot untreated strip in a soybean field for comparison. "By the second week, I could see more flowers on the plants treated with Bombigro®. We've used it on wheat, corn, and soybeans, and it mixes well with other products. I also noticed that the soil in treated fields looked healthier and seemed less compacted. After seeing the results in the trials, we've incorporated Bombigro® into our regular program for 2026."

"Yield potential is rarely lost all at once—it's usually eroded gradually when heat, moisture, application stress, and other challenges interrupt crop development," said Dave Dyson, Chief Agronomist at Locus AG. "When plants recover faster and keep growing, they have a better chance of utilizing available nutrients, maintaining productivity, and carrying more yield potential to harvest. Across different crops and geographic regions, that's exactly where we consistently see Bombigro® delivering meaningful value."
