en.Wedoany.com Reported - India's Central Electricity Regulatory Commission has proposed in a draft regulation to grant transmission charge waivers to clean energy projects delayed due to a lack of transmission lines.

Currently, multiple clean energy projects in India are stalled due to inadequate transmission infrastructure.

This proposal marks a reversal from its previous policy direction. India began phasing out waivers on inter-state transmission charges for new solar, wind, and hybrid projects starting July 2025.

Under the draft, solar, wind, and hybrid projects that fail to commence commercial operations as per their scheduled timelines would benefit. The waiver would be granted to projects that sign power sales contracts for at least seven years before December 31, 2026.

The regulator has also proposed extending the above benefits to battery energy storage systems built within renewable energy projects.

In such cases, electricity supplied from the batteries would receive the same transmission charge waiver as the associated renewable energy project.
