en.Wedoany.com Reported - American Airlines plans to operate an average of 391 daily outbound international flights during the Northern Hemisphere winter 2026/2027 season (October 25, 2026, to March 27, 2027), an increase of nearly 4% compared to winter 2025/2026, adding an average of 14 flights per day. This schedule data comes from the airline's filing with Cirium Diio. As a member of the oneworld alliance, the carrier leads the U.S. in the number of international routes, but its advantage is limited to short- and medium-haul routes, largely driven by its extensive flight network to Mexico and the Caribbean.

The airline has announced new and resumed international routes for the winter season, with a total of four as of the August 3 schedule filing. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) to Oaxaca, Mexico, route launches on October 29, 2026; the Miami International Airport (MIA) to Cap-Haïtien route resumes on November 1, 2026; the Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) to Tokyo Narita Airport (NRT) route resumes on March 27, 2027; and the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Tel Aviv route also resumes on March 27, 2027.

The PHX to Oaxaca route marks the first nonstop service in this market, covering 1,284 nautical miles (2,378 kilometers), and will be the second-longest scheduled flight from PHX to Mexico to date. The route operates only four flights during the Día de los Muertos period, flown by the A320ceo, departing Arizona on October 29, October 30, November 3, and November 4. The MIA to Cap-Haïtien route resumes with daily service on the 737-800, last flown in 2020, and could have resumed earlier but was delayed due to safety and security concerns. The ORD to NRT route restarts after a seven-year hiatus, with daily service on the Boeing 787-9, last flown in 2020. The JFK to Tel Aviv route resumes after being suspended since 2023 due to the war, with daily service on the 777-200ER.

The restoration of the ORD to NRT route follows a previously released blurry photo by American Airlines, identified as Osaka Garden in Chicago, which sparked speculation about flights from ORD to Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX), but the final announcement was a return to NRT. The maximum flight time on this route is 12 hours and 45 minutes. Fellow oneworld member and joint venture partner Japan Airlines (JAL) has canceled its ORD-NRT flights, with the last departure from the U.S. operating on March 27, 2027, the same day American Airlines resumes the route. Japan Airlines will continue its daily Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) to ORD service using the Boeing 777-300ER.

For the winter 2026/2027 season, the airline plans to operate 312 international routes from 22 U.S. hubs, key cities, and other airports. MIA averages 150 daily departures, making it the airport with the most service, 60 more than the second-ranked Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The carrier will fly to 81 international destinations from MIA, covering the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. Of all international flights, 63% are operated by narrowbody aircraft (excluding regional jets), 20% by regional jets, and 17% by widebody aircraft.
