en.Wedoany.com Reported - Elektrownia Wiatrowa Baltica – 2, the project company developing the 1.5 GW Baltica 2 offshore wind farm, has awarded contracts for two walk-to-work (W2W) accommodation vessels to support the construction and offshore operations of the project in the Polish Baltic Sea.

The contracts were awarded by Ørsted on behalf of the project company through a tender process, with the scope divided into two lots. The first lot contract was awarded to Pelagic Wind Services in April, valued at €24 million. The vessel is scheduled to commence work between October 2026 and January 2027, with expected support for the project until November or December 2027, along with an option for extension.

The second lot contract, valued at nearly €26 million, was awarded to Bernhard Schulte in July. The vessel is planned to start between December 2026 and February 2027, with operations continuing until July 2027, also with an option for extension.

According to public tender award notices published in May and August, the vessels expected to be deployed at Baltica 2 are Bernhard Schulte's commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) Windea Clarke and Pelagic's CSOV Pelagic Walu. Windea Clarke was delivered by Bernhard Schulte Offshore in early July and is the fourth and final CSOV in the series, featuring Ulstein's SX222 design with dual X-STERN solutions, hybrid battery propulsion, and methanol-ready design, and has been awarded DNV's SILENT-E class notation to reduce underwater radiated noise.

Pelagic's Pelagic Walu is being built at Cochin Shipyard in India and was launched in October 2025. The vessel combines hybrid electric propulsion, methanol-ready main engines, and a large lithium-ion battery system to reduce fuel consumption and emissions during operations, and is equipped with a motion-compensated walk-to-work gangway.

At Baltica 2, these two vessels will provide offshore accommodation during the construction and early operation phases, as well as access to wind turbines, offshore substations, and other facilities.

Baltica 2 is being jointly developed by Ørsted and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna (PGE), with an installed capacity of 1.5 GW and planned to enter operation in 2027. The site is located approximately 40 km off the coast near Ustka, with offshore construction having commenced earlier this year and monopile installation currently underway. The wind farm will feature 107 Siemens Gamesa 14 MW turbines.
