Growatt Launches MINA Home Energy Storage System in Australia with 5-30kWh Capacity

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Chinese inverter and battery manufacturer Growatt has launched the MINA integrated energy storage system for the Australian residential rooftop solar market, combining a hybrid inverter, modular battery storage, backup power, and smart monitoring in a single unit.

The MINA system is designed for single-phase residential applications, with inverter output power ranging from 3 kW to 10 kW. On the battery side, up to six 5 kWh modules can be configured, providing total usable storage capacity ranging from 5 kWh to 30 kWh. The system is equipped with three maximum power point trackers, each connected to one string of modules, with a maximum DC/AC ratio of 2.0 and a maximum input current of 18 A per string, making it compatible with high-current photovoltaic modules currently available on the market.

Growatt has introduced battery optimizer technology for MINA, enabling independent management of each battery module to mitigate the impact of differences in state of charge, operating history, or aging between modules. This design also allows homeowners to add new modules directly to an existing system as household energy demand grows, without the need to replace original equipment.

For backup power, MINA provides a 63 A backup interface that can switch to selected household loads during grid outages, with a switching time of less than 10 milliseconds and a peak output power of 150%. The system supports floor-standing or wall-mounted installation, featuring integrated handles and plug-and-play connections, with hardware stacking completed in approximately 10 minutes, along with system setup and diagnostics within the same timeframe. Both AC and DC sides are equipped with Type II surge protection and arc fault protection, utilizing natural cooling, with an enclosure protection rating of IP66.

Growatt states that MINA was developed in response to the growing demand for energy independence in the Australian market. The company notes that as residential solar penetration increases, homeowners need more practical means to increase self-consumption ratios, reduce reliance on the grid, and cope with fluctuating electricity prices. MINA stores excess solar energy during the day for use in the evening, at night, or during peak electricity price periods, thereby enhancing the value of rooftop solar assets.

For monitoring, installers and homeowners can view photovoltaic generation, battery status, energy consumption, and system performance through the Growatt monitoring platform. MINA is VPP-ready, and Growatt has also listed a 25 kW bidirectional DC charging capability for future vehicle-to-grid (V2G) applications, which is not yet commercially available.
