en.Wedoany.com Reported - On August 10, energy engineering services provider OEG disclosed that it has been awarded an underwater corrosion protection contract by OWP Gennaker GmbH to supply an impressed current cathodic protection system for the Gennaker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea, protecting wind turbine foundations from seawater corrosion throughout the wind farm's operational lifetime. The project is being developed by Skyborn Renewables.

OEG's scope of work covers detailed engineering design, procurement, manufacturing supervision, offshore logistics, equipment installation, system testing, and commissioning. Engineering design and procurement activities will commence immediately, followed by manufacturing support, system integration, and offshore installation, with the schedule aligned with the wind farm's overall construction plan.
During project execution, OEG will collaborate with cathodic protection technology company CORROSION to deploy the jointly developed ICCP-Subsea Assembly Method underwater assembly system. This system enables remote installation of impressed current cathodic protection equipment on underwater structures, reducing diving operations and complex offshore installation procedures. Offshore construction will be carried out by OEG's project management and marine operations teams, utilizing specialized underwater equipment for installation.
The Gennaker wind farm is located approximately 15 kilometers north of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula in the German Baltic Sea, within Germany's 12-nautical-mile territorial waters. It is planned to install 63 Siemens Gamesa 15-megawatt-class offshore wind turbines on monopile foundations. The project received construction and operation approval from the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in December 2025, with offshore turbine installation scheduled to commence in late summer 2027.
The wind farm will be connected to the German transmission grid via the OST-6-1 system built by 50Hertz, with a maximum grid connection capacity of 927 megawatts. The system comprises two offshore substation platforms, Darß and Zingst, three 220-kilovolt AC submarine cables, and onshore cables, with the transmission route extending up to approximately 90 kilometers and terminating at the Gnewitz substation under construction. The two platforms will collect power from the turbines and step it up to 220 kilovolts, with the OST-6-1 grid connection system scheduled to become operational in July 2028.
