en.Wedoany.com Reported - Phase II of the Supernode energy storage project in Australia has recently been completed and entered commercial operation, with the AUD 469 million financing for Phase III simultaneously reaching financial close. The project's energy storage systems are supplied by CATL, with Phase I and Phase II totaling 520MW/1858MWh now fully in commercial operation. Upon full completion of Phase III, the project's total scale will exceed 3GWh; it is currently the largest operational battery energy storage project in Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM).

Supernode is developed by Quinbrook, a specialist investment firm in energy transition infrastructure. The first three phases collectively plan 780MW/3074MWh, with a total investment exceeding AUD 1.4 billion, and all energy storage systems sourced from CATL. Phase III will adopt CATL's latest TENER energy storage system. According to the parties' plans, they will also jointly develop eight-hour long-duration energy storage solutions in the future.

Supernode is located adjacent to the South Pine transmission hub. The capacity of the first three phases has all been secured under long-term contracts, with cumulative financing of approximately AUD 1.2 billion completed. The project is situated in Queensland, Australia, where infrastructure development and energy transition are being advanced around the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, with large-scale energy storage rapidly entering the stage of scaled operation. The transmission node location, secured long-term contracts, and in-place financing constitute the commercial foundation for the project's long-term operation.
CATL's scope of services extends beyond equipment delivery. The company has established a unified standardized technical platform at the site to eliminate compatibility issues across multiple phases; through the LTSA (Long-Term Service Agreement), condition monitoring, performance tracking, fault response, and preventive maintenance are integrated into asset operations, supporting the project in fulfilling its long-term contracts. Product performance, scaled delivery, and long-term service capabilities make core equipment risks more verifiable, assessable, and manageable, while also providing technical support for Supernode's entry into the infrastructure financing system.
