Australian Government Awards Zenith Energy Contract for Phase 2 of Northern Endeavour Decommissioning Program

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Zenith Energy Australia has been awarded a contract by the Australian Government to serve as the lead contractor for Phase 2 of the Northern Endeavour offshore decommissioning program. The contract was awarded through an international competitive bidding process.

Phase 2 focuses on the permanent plugging and abandonment of nine subsea wells in the Laminaria-Corallina oilfield in the Timor Sea. The oilfield is located approximately 550 kilometers northwest of Darwin. Zenith Energy will be responsible for providing comprehensive project management and engineering services, including developing execution plans, obtaining regulatory approvals, managing offshore plugging and abandonment operations, as well as the storage, transport, and site monitoring of recovered infrastructure and materials, until handover to Phase 3.

The Northern Endeavour decommissioning program aims to safely and responsibly decommission the former Northern Endeavour offshore production facility and associated subsea infrastructure. Phase 1 has completed the disconnection and removal of the FPSO, which was transported to a recycling facility. Phase 2 serves as a critical component of the program, designed to ensure the long-term integrity of the wells and sustainable environmental management.

Headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland, Zenith Energy has previously completed multiple well management and offshore decommissioning projects in the UK, Australia, Africa, and the Middle East. The handover to Phase 3 is subject to subsequent approval by the federal government.
