Metso Secures Order for Mineral Processing Equipment for Yitirrti Copper-Zinc-Silver Project
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Metso has received an order from GR Engineering Services (GRES) to supply core mineral processing technology and complete equipment packages for Develop Global's Yitirrti copper-zinc-silver project (formerly Sulphur Springs) in Western Australia. The order value was not disclosed and has been booked in Metso's Mining segment orders for the second quarter of 2026.

The Yitirrti project is located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia and is a high-grade copper-zinc-silver deposit. The associated processing plant is designed with an annual throughput capacity of 1.5 million tonnes and is currently in the construction phase ahead of commissioning. Develop Global made its final investment decision (FID) in June 2026, with total project investment estimated at approximately A$450 million. GRES signed an EPC lump-sum turnkey contract valued at A$275 million with Develop Global's subsidiary Venturex Sulphur Springs on August 17.
Metso's scope of supply covers the process design, equipment manufacturing, factory acceptance testing, and on-site delivery for the copper-zinc separation flowsheet. Key equipment includes the Nordberg® C Series™ jaw crusher, Nordberg® HP450e™ cone crusher, apron feeders, as well as TankCell® flotation cells, thickeners, SMD stirred media detritor, and slurry analyzers.
Kurt Tiedemann, Group Chief Metallurgist at Develop Global, stated that the quality of the processing plant construction is critical to the project, and Metso's technology system and localized service support were key factors in the equipment selection. David Tulloch, Vice President of Metso's Minerals business in the Asia-Pacific region, stated that Metso's service center in Karratha will provide ongoing after-sales technical support following the project's commissioning.
The Yitirrti project has secured approximately A$570 million in debt financing and offtake commitments for copper and zinc concentrates from Trafigura. First concentrate production is expected in the June 2028 quarter.
