en.Wedoany.com Reported - An international standard, Measurement Methods and Test Procedures for Transformers and Inductors Used in Electronic and Communication Equipment, spearheaded by Chinese experts in collaboration with counterparts from the United States, Germany, France, Japan, Italy, and other countries, was recently jointly released by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), officially establishing a unified technical specification for the global testing of magnetic components in electronic communications.

This standard precisely aligns with the development needs of cutting-edge industries such as 5G and AI server power supplies and new energy power conversion. It uniformly defines key testing methods, including dynamic capacitance, thermocouple temperature rise, incremental inductance, differential inductance, energy inductance, and amplitude inductance measurements, as well as over ten test procedures covering high-frequency loss and AC resistance. It provides a unified and authoritative international technical benchmark for the R&D design, performance testing, and quality assessment of magnetic components worldwide.

Previously, the technical requirements of the IEC and IEEE standards differed, making test results difficult to mutually recognize. Enterprises faced duplicate testing and multiple certifications for exports, creating substantial technical barriers to international trade. The newly released standard achieves the integration and mutual recognition of the two major technical systems of Europe/Asia and North America, establishing a globally unified testing benchmark. This helps reduce duplicate testing and compliance costs for enterprises worldwide and removes technical barriers across the global magnetic component supply chain.

The release of this standard marks China's official entry into the forefront of global standard-setting in this field, laying a solid foundational standard base for the high-quality development of new-generation information technologies and new energy industries, including 5G communications, computing infrastructure, and new energy vehicles.
