en.Wedoany.com Reported - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) announced on August 26, 2026, that it will add a larger model to its compact CO₂ capture system lineup, the CO₂MPACT™ series. The new unit has an annual capture capacity of 450,000 tons per train, compared to 70,000 tons per year for the earlier CO₂MPACT™ Full-Module model in the series. The new model continues the fully modular, standard-design-based mass-production concept of the CO₂MPACT™ Full-Module, and MHI plans to expand its product lineup through this addition to cover a diverse range of customer needs.

CO₂MPACT™ Full-Module CO₂MPACT™ Mobile

The CO₂MPACT™ series employs standard and modular designs, enabling optimized solutions tailored to customers' flue gas sources and shorter delivery times. The new model likewise follows the standard design concept of the CO₂MPACT™ Full-Module, allowing it to handle various flue gas sources (CO₂ concentrations), with project conditions such as construction period, cost, and equipment layout determinable in advance. As the modularization ratio has been increased to over 90%, the amount of on-site installation work is significantly reduced compared to conventional plant construction, improving construction efficiency and shortening delivery times by approximately six to twelve months relative to traditional construction methods. Modules can be transported via trailers on public roads or by rail, thereby meeting a broader range of customer needs than ever before.

The MHI Group will exhibit at CCUS EXPO (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Expo), held from Wednesday, September 9, to Friday, September 11, at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The expo is part of the 26th SMART ENERGY WEEK [Autumn] 2026, open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MHI's booth is located at E23-60 in Hall 7 of Makuhari Messe. During the exhibition, Tatsuto Nagayasu, Principal of MHI and Head of CCUS at the Plant & Infrastructure Systems division, will deliver a keynote speech titled "MHI Building the CCUS Value Chain" on September 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. MHI will also introduce the concept of the new CO₂MPACT™ product lineup and its track record in CO₂ capture technology at the exhibition.

The MHI Group has been developing CO₂ capture technology in collaboration with Kansai Electric Power Company since 1990. As of August 2026, 18 plants based on the relevant process have been delivered, with 2 additional plants under construction. Its proprietary Advanced KM CDR Process™ offers excellent regeneration efficiency and a low solvent degradation rate, delivering outstanding energy-saving performance that reduces operating costs.

The MHI Group will continue to seek business opportunities in fields that help address social challenges, including ensuring safety and security and supporting a stable energy supply, while responding to changes in the external environment. The company believes that carbon neutrality initiatives are increasingly shifting toward pragmatic pathways that reflect energy security concerns and the need to maintain industrial competitiveness; the CCUS value chain, which connects diverse CO₂ emission sources with storage and utilization, is one of the key solutions for achieving a carbon-neutral society. Going forward, the MHI Group will continue to advance its CCUS business leveraging proprietary CO₂ capture technology, contribute to global greenhouse gas reduction as a solution provider, and develop more solutions that contribute to environmental protection.
