en.Wedoany.com Reported - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) announced on August 26, 2026, the addition of a larger model to its compact CO₂ capture system, the CO₂MPACT™ series. The new model boasts an annual capture capacity of 450,000 tons per unit, compared to 70,000 tons per year for the earlier CO₂MPACT™ Full-Module model in the series. Continuing the fully modular, standard-design-based mass-production concept of the CO₂MPACT™ Full-Module, MHI plans to expand its product lineup to address a diverse range of customer needs.

CO₂MPACT™ Full-Module CO₂MPACT™ Mobile

The CO₂MPACT™ series employs standard and modular designs, enabling optimized solutions tailored to customers' flue gas sources while shortening delivery times. The new model follows the same standard design philosophy as the CO₂MPACT™ Full-Module, capable of handling various flue gas sources (CO₂ concentrations), with project conditions such as construction period, cost, and equipment layout determinable in advance. With the modularization ratio increased to over 90%, on-site installation work is significantly reduced compared to conventional plant construction, improving construction efficiency and shortening delivery times by approximately six to twelve months relative to traditional methods. Modules can be transported by trailer via public roads or by rail, thereby accommodating a broader range of customer needs than ever before.

The MHI Group will participate in CCUS EXPO (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Expo), held from Wednesday, September 9, to Friday, September 11, at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. The expo is part of the 26th SMART ENERGY WEEK [Autumn] 2026, open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MHI's booth is located at E23-60 in Hall 7 of Makuhari Messe. During the exhibition, Tatsuto Nagayasu, Principal of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Head of CCUS, Plant and Infrastructure Systems, will deliver a keynote speech titled "MHI Building a CCUS Value Chain" on September 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. MHI will also introduce the new CO₂MPACT™ product line concept and its track record in CO₂ capture technology at the exhibition.

The MHI Group has been developing carbon capture technology in collaboration with Kansai Electric Power Company since 1990. As of August 2026, 18 plants based on the related process have been delivered, with 2 more under construction. Its proprietary Advanced KM CDR Process™ offers excellent regeneration efficiency and low solvent degradation rates, delivering superior energy-saving performance that reduces operating costs.

The MHI Group will continue to pursue business opportunities in areas that help solve societal challenges, including ensuring safety and security and supporting stable energy supply, while responding to changes in the external environment. The company believes that carbon neutrality initiatives are increasingly shifting toward pragmatic pathways that reflect energy security concerns and the need to maintain industrial competitiveness; the CCUS value chain connecting diverse CO₂ emission sources with storage and utilization is one of the key solutions for achieving a carbon-neutral society. Going forward, the MHI Group will continue to advance its CCUS business leveraging proprietary CO₂ capture technology, contributing to global greenhouse gas reduction as a solution provider, and develop further solutions that contribute to environmental protection.
