en.Wedoany.com Reported - Dubai International Airport (DXB) is continuing its investment program in passenger facilities, technology, and operational capabilities to match airline capacity recovery and growing passenger demand.

The investments include improvements to passenger facilities, the creation of a new integrated remote stand departure experience, expanded self-service options, and the continued development of biometric systems. Dubai Airports is also adjusting passenger flow routes, operational systems, and waiting areas across the airport. The program encompasses targeted capacity enhancements and modifications to the design and functionality of key passenger areas, aimed at providing greater operational flexibility and streamlining the passenger journey through the airport.

This investment program comes as airline capacity at DXB is gradually recovering, following earlier regional airspace restrictions that posed challenges to operations in the first half of 2026.

During the first half of the year, DXB handled a total of 31.5 million passengers, with 13 million in the second quarter. Within the second quarter, monthly passenger throughput increased from 3.5 million in April to 4.5 million in May, reaching 5 million in June. By the end of June, nearly 50 international airlines were operating through DXB, connecting to 217 destinations across 99 countries; as the route network expands, load factors continue to rise, approaching 2025 levels.

Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports, stated that the first half of the year tested every aspect of the aviation system and demonstrated the airport's resilience; as capacity steadily recovers across the board, demand is responding immediately. He emphasized that international transfer passengers account for a significant proportion of DXB's traffic, and the performance of all parties in recent months has positioned the airport favorably to absorb the rebound in demand, work closely with airline partners, and consolidate Dubai's status as a leading global hub.

During the first half of the year, passenger processing remained within DXB's established service levels: approximately 98.98% of departing passengers completed passport control within 10 minutes, 98.95% of arriving passengers completed passport control within 15 minutes, and 99.34% of passengers passed through security screening within 5 minutes.

Dubai Airports expects business activity to increase in the second half of the year as route networks and flight frequencies recover. The winter flight schedule, along with Dubai's calendar of commercial, leisure, and sporting events, is also expected to boost passenger demand.
