Anthropic Signs $35 Billion Cloud Computing Deal with Lambda

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Anthropic has reportedly signed a $35 billion cloud computing agreement with cloud service provider Lambda. Lambda will provide Anthropic with computing power based on NVIDIA chips; NVIDIA previously participated in Lambda's $480 million Series D funding round completed in 2025.

The computing infrastructure involved in the deal is located in Nueces County, Texas, and is being developed by Hut 8. Sources familiar with the matter said NVIDIA signed an agreement with Hut 8 several weeks ago to lock in computing resources at the relevant data center; Lambda will deploy chips purchased from NVIDIA at the facility and provide cloud computing services to Anthropic accordingly. The specific amount Lambda will pay NVIDIA for using the data center capacity has not been disclosed.

Hut 8's Beacon Point AI data center campus in Nueces County has secured 1,000MW of utility power capacity. In May, the company signed a 15-year lease for 352MW of IT capacity in Phase 1, with a base lease contract value of $9.8 billion, and will build the AI computing facilities in accordance with the NVIDIA DSX reference architecture. In July, Hut 8 signed a second 15-year lease for 352MW with the same high-investment-grade tenant, bringing the campus's contracted IT capacity to 704MW, with the combined base-term contract value of the two leases reaching $19.6 billion.

The estimated capital investment for the first two phases of data center and computing infrastructure at Beacon Point totals approximately $17 billion. Hut 8 has completed $4.25 billion in investment-grade senior secured notes financing for the project, with part of the proceeds used to build the six data halls and supporting substations in Phase 1; the first data hall of Phase 2 is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2028.
