Two CNC Milling-Boring Machines Commissioned at Russia's Lipetsk Mechanical Plant

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 2, Lipetsk Mechanical Plant (ООО «ЛМЗ»), part of the Kalashnikov Group, commissioned two new CNC milling-boring machines. This high-precision equipment is dedicated to the machining of large workpieces and will significantly expand the plant's technical capabilities, multiply labor productivity, and shorten product manufacturing cycles.

CNC machine operators have successfully mastered the operation of the new machining centers and are now able to perform a wide range of milling operations as well as drilling operations on longitudinal and transverse planes with high quality. The machine's CNC system operates in coordination with the rotary table's CNC system, significantly expanding the capability for automatic machining of large components in a single setup.

Alongside the commissioning of the new equipment, the workshop infrastructure has also been upgraded. Previously, the department had only one machine of this type; now the machining area has been expanded. An additional passageway has also been created to facilitate the rapid transfer of large components between production workshops.

Veniamin Sizov, Executive Director of LMZ, stated: "Equipment modernization is an important part of the enterprise's long-term development strategy. The implementation of this investment project and the introduction of advanced technologies represent another step in strengthening the plant's production potential."

Lipetsk Mechanical Plant is one of the main producers of modern self-propelled tractors for the Russian S-300V4 air defense missile system. In April 2026, the plant purchased two new CNC milling machining centers under an investment framework aimed at expanding armored hull production. The commissioning of these two new CNC milling-boring machines is the latest step in LMZ's ongoing equipment modernization and technological upgrade efforts.
