GGR launches 40-tonne Croco40 crawler carrier

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 7, UK-based GGR Group unveiled its new Croco40 crawler heavy-load carrier, with the machine scheduled for its first public display at Vertikal Days 2026 in Newark, UK, on September 9–10. The Croco40 has a rated load capacity of 40,000 kg and an operating weight of approximately 10,000 kg, achieving a maximum payload four times its own weight. The machine measures 6,250 mm in total length and 2,460 mm in total width, and features a crawler chassis, a hydraulically self-levelling load platform, and a wireless remote-control system, targeting the transport of large equipment, components, and containers on construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, and heavy-industry sites. The Croco40 also becomes the first model in GGR's new Croco crawler carrier series.

The load platform height of the Croco40 can be adjusted between 1,100 mm and 1,340 mm, with a longitudinal levelling range of up to 8°/5° and a lateral levelling capability of up to 5°. The official press release specifies a maximum gradeability of 19°, while the product page states "up to 20°"—a 1° discrepancy between the two official sources; therefore, the formal specification follows the clearly disclosed 19° from the press release. The maximum side-slope operating capability is 10°. These features allow the machine to adjust the load attitude via the hydraulic platform when site gradients change, without relying on the vehicle chassis to remain level as a whole.

The power system uses a Deutz Stage V diesel engine rated at 105 kW (approximately 141 hp), matched with a hydrostatic transmission system. The machine is controlled via a Scanreco wireless remote control, allowing the operator to leave the cab and operate the equipment from a position where the carrier, load, and travel route are directly visible. The Croco40 carries product designation TL40, and its 2,460 mm overall width is less than the length dimension of a standard 20-foot container, with the design primarily arranged around restricted access routes and complex ground conditions on large industrial sites.

The load platform integrates standard 20-foot container fixing points, enabling direct locking and transport of 20-foot containers, site welfare units, and other modular equipment. In addition to containers, GGR lists heavy machinery, plant equipment, and large structural components as the primary transport targets for the Croco40. The core scope of this product is on-site heavy-load handling rather than lifting, so this launch should be classified under crawler material transport equipment rather than crawler cranes.

Within GGR's existing product range, the company's previously announced crawler transport equipment has been concentrated around the 1.5-tonne, 3-tonne, and 6-tonne classes—for example, the 3.0 FX with a maximum load of 3,000 kg and the Tracked Leveller 6.0 with a load capacity of 6,000 kg. The Croco40 directly raises the company's publicly stated crawler transport capability to 40,000 kg. GGR officially describes it as the first 40-tonne-class crawler carrier on the UK market, while also confirming that this product launch marks the official introduction of the Croco series, which will continue to be expanded with additional models.

The Croco40 has now entered the formal product launch and commercial supply phase. GGR's product page already accepts enquiries for both rental and purchase, and the company operates equipment bases in Manchester, Thame, and Glasgow in the UK, with further availability through its European and UAE dealer networks.
