India's GPT Infra Secures Rs 85.53 Crore Signalling Contract from Eastern Railway

en.Wedoany.com Reported - GPT Infraprojects Limited (GPTINFRA), through its subsidiary Alcon Builders and Engineers Private Limited, has secured a signalling works order from Eastern Railway for railway infrastructure development in Asansol Division. The contract is valued at Rs. 85.53 crore (Rs. 855.3 million) including GST and Rs. 72.48 crore (Rs. 724.8 million) excluding GST, with an execution period of 12 months from the date of issue of the Letter of Award (LOA).

The project is related to the Sonnagar–Andal multi-tracking project and forms part of railway infrastructure development ancillary to the Dedicated Freight Corridor. The signalling works cover an approximately 25 km section between Pradhankunta and Mugma, commissioning automatic signalling and electronic interlocking systems.

The works will commission automatic signalling using Multi-Section Digital Axle Counters (MSDAC) to achieve continuous track circuit detection, helping signalling equipment detect the presence or absence of trains in defined sections, thereby supporting traffic management and operational safety. Electronic Interlocking (EI) works will be carried out at New Mugma to control and coordinate signals and points to prevent conflicting train movements. The interlocking upgrade at Mugma Yard involves the transition from panel interlocking (PI) to electronic interlocking, aimed at modernising yard signalling equipment and improving railway operational coordination.

GPT Infraprojects Limited is the flagship company of the GPT Group, headquartered in Kolkata and established in 1980, operating through two segments: infrastructure and sleeper manufacturing. The latest signalling contract further strengthens the company's project portfolio and enhances its participation in railway infrastructure development, while also highlighting the role of its subsidiary in undertaking specialised railway signalling and interlocking works.

This Rs. 85.53 crore (Rs. 855.3 million) signalling contract covers automatic signalling, MSDAC-based track circuit detection and electronic interlocking, supporting the multi-tracking project in Eastern Railway's Asansol Division and covering signalling infrastructure along the Pradhankunta–Mugma section.
