India's Vikram Solar Signs 1GW Solar Cell Procurement Agreement

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 15, Indian PV module manufacturer Vikram Solar signed a domestic solar cell supply agreement with Avaada Electro. Under the agreement, Avaada Electro will supply Vikram Solar with a total of 1GW of India-made solar cells for its module production. The procured products are half-cut N-type G12R TOPCon cells that comply with India's ALMM requirements, with the first delivery scheduled to begin in September 2026. Vikram Solar has disclosed the agreement to the Indian stock exchanges.

The contract is valued at approximately INR 12.5 billion. The 1GW of cells procured will directly enter Vikram Solar's existing module manufacturing system, supplementing its raw material supply before its own cell production capacity comes online. Public information shows that as of August 2026, Vikram Solar has commissioned 15.5GW of module manufacturing capacity, while building 9GW of solar cell capacity in Gangaikondan, Tamil Nadu, with production planned for fiscal year 2027.

The procurement target adopts the G12R size and N-type TOPCon technology route, and meets the domestic cell requirements of India's Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). Avaada Electro already has TOPCon cell production capability. Its recent public materials show that the company has 3GW of cell capacity in operation and continues to expand its related manufacturing capacity.
