China's First International Standard in the Field of Steam Turbine Main Equipment, Led by Huaneng, Successfully Published

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On September 22, the international standard "Steam turbines — Thermal acceptance tests — Part 4: Routine performance tests" (IEC 60953-4:2026), led by China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., was officially published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This is the first international standard for steam turbine thermal testing published by China, achieving a zero breakthrough for China in international standards in the field of steam turbine main equipment.

The standard was led in its drafting by Xi'an Thermal Power Research Institute Co., Ltd. It focuses on the needs of thermal power units participating in flexible regulation of the power system for full life-cycle performance testing, standardizes general principles for routine performance tests of steam turbines, including test preparation, operating condition setup, measurement implementation, data correction, result evaluation, and repeatability determination, and specifies technical methods for diagnosing long-term performance degradation and identifying performance changes of units, providing a unified technical standard for performance monitoring, condition diagnosis, and operation and maintenance optimization of various steam turbines worldwide during their in-service phase.

For a long time, the IEC steam turbine thermal performance test standard system has mainly been adapted to thermal acceptance tests for new or retrofitted units, lacking a unified standard for routine performance testing of in-service units. The publication of this standard establishes a globally unified benchmark for routine performance testing of in-service steam turbines, fills the gap in the IEC steam turbine thermal test standard system, and will further promote international cooperation and sustainable development of the steam turbine technology and equipment industry.
