en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 29, the second-generation 10 kA high-temperature superconducting current leads independently developed by Startorus Fusion completed rated parameter testing. After two current leads, S1 and S2, were short-circuited, they passed multiple rounds of 10 kA current-carrying assessments, with maximum withstand voltage reaching 10 kV, and all performance indicators met design requirements. This component was developed for the magnet system of the CTRFR-1 (Startorus-1) fusion device. The test covered verification of the current leads' cryogenic high-current operation and insulation withstand voltage performance.

The test adopted a connection method in which two current leads were short-circuited, and multiple rounds of assessment were conducted on their rated current-carrying capacity. The current leads' structural design, manufacturing process, system integration, and cryogenic testing were all included within the scope of this R&D verification. The cryogenic high-current joints and insulation terminals used in the test were also independently developed by Startorus Fusion, and the related components together formed the current lead test system.

These current leads are supporting components for the CTRFR-1 magnet system. Startorus Fusion previously completed a 20 K cryogenic excitation test of the full-size toroidal field magnet and, on October 9, completed a 6,350 A current-carrying and rapid discharge test of the central solenoid model magnet. This rated parameter test of the second-generation current leads corresponds to the independent verification stage for the magnet's supporting current transmission components.
