Edwards Vacuum's US Dry Pump Factory in the UK Begins Operations, Plans Annual Capacity of 10,000 Units

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 29, the semiconductor dry vacuum pump factory of British vacuum equipment manufacturer Edwards Vacuum, located in Genesee County, New York, USA, was officially opened and entered the initial production stage. The factory is located in the Western New York Science & Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park (STAMP). The overall project plans an investment of USD 319 million, with a current planned annual capacity of 10,000 units, mainly producing dry vacuum pumps used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

The factory has a building area of approximately 22,300 square meters and includes manufacturing, warehousing, and administrative office areas, with an all-electric facility configuration. Initial production products include the iXL and iXM series dry vacuum pumps, with plans to subsequently expand to the Ganymede series. The factory's long-term design capacity can be increased to 20,000 units per year. At the time of the official opening, the factory had cumulatively produced approximately 75 vacuum pumps and had 85 employees.

The project began Phase 1 construction in April 2024. Edwards Vacuum subsequently completed the installation of major production equipment, utility connections, and system commissioning, and entered the facility readiness stage in early 2026. This opening corresponds to the latest milestone in the factory's transition from construction and commissioning to initial production. The USD 319 million figure is the previously determined overall project investment plan, of which Phase 1 was originally scheduled at USD 127 million.

New York State has arranged up to USD 21 million in performance-linked tax incentives and investment tax credits for the project, and provided USD 1 million in workforce training support. The New York Power Authority has also allocated 4.9 MW of Niagara hydroelectric power quota and 2.1 MW of other power supply quota for the project. The project's long-term plan is to create up to 600 jobs.
