Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 25, Sampyo Cement has achieved an integrated A-grade or higher rating across all ESG categories for the third consecutive year in the 2025 assessment conducted by the Korea Institute of Corporate Governance and Sustainability (KCGS), becoming the first company in South Korea's cement sector to reach this milestone.

The KCGS evaluation, regarded as the country's authoritative benchmark for listed companies, awards an integrated A grade to organisations that maintain consistently high performance in environmental, social, and governance practices.

In the social category, Sampyo Cement earned the highest possible A+ rating for the second year running, supported by enhanced risk management systems, improved workplace safety measures, and stronger stakeholder protection frameworks.

The company retained an A grade in the environmental category through continued investment in low-carbon production technologies and a firm commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Key initiatives include operating a specialised dust-reducing cement carrier vessel at Jeju Port, restoring habitats for endangered species, and participating in coastal conservation programmes.

Sampyo Cement also secured an A grade in governance—the only cement producer in South Korea to do so for two consecutive years. Since establishing a dedicated ESG Committee under its board in 2022, composed entirely of independent directors, the company has maintained additional oversight committees for director nominations and related-party transactions.

The sustained top-tier recognition reflects Sampyo Cement's systematic approach to sustainability, including the expansion of its eco-friendly "Bluement" product line, comprehensive safety-first operational protocols, reinforced ethical management practices, and growing community engagement activities.

By consistently demonstrating leadership across all three ESG pillars, Sampyo Cement continues to set a benchmark for responsible business practices within South Korea's cement industry while advancing long-term environmental and social objectives.
