Wedoany.com Report-Nov. 27, Schaeffler officially opened its new China logistics center in Taicang, Suzhou, on November 25. The advanced facility strengthens the company's supply chain operations across the country and serves as the central hub for both inbound raw materials and outbound finished automotive components.
Located next to Schaeffler's Taicang manufacturing base, the center supplies materials to local production lines and consolidates shipments from nine Schaeffler plants nationwide. It distributes a wide range of products—including bearings, powertrain components, chassis systems, and electric-drive solutions—to customers in nearly 30 provinces and municipalities.
The close integration with production areas has significantly reduced material handling times. Raw material deliveries to assembly lines now take less than one hour, compared with approximately eight hours previously. Finished parts move directly into storage after completion, cutting warehousing time by over 80 percent. These improvements enable faster and more flexible responses to customer requirements.
The logistics center features extensive automation and digital systems. Automated high-bay warehouses and shuttle vehicles manage storage and internal transport, while a unified management platform provides real-time oversight of inventory, inbound flows, and outbound deliveries.
Sustainability measures are incorporated throughout the facility, including energy-efficient systems, intelligent lighting, water-conserving fixtures, and rainwater recycling, supporting low-carbon operations.
The Taicang hub now forms the core of Schaeffler's nationwide logistics network in China. It reflects the company's ongoing strategy of developing localized resources to serve the domestic market effectively.
In 2025, Schaeffler celebrates 30 years of operations in China. The company currently runs 17 manufacturing sites and six research and development centers across the country, backed by an extensive sales and service network. The new logistics center reinforces Schaeffler's long-term commitment to expanding its presence and improving supply-chain efficiency for customers throughout China.
