Wedoany.com Report-Dec.2, Tesla has achieved a historic milestone in Norway, registering 28,606 new vehicles from January to November 2025, surpassing the previous full-year record of 26,575 units set by Volkswagen in 2016, according to data released Monday by the Norwegian Road Federation (OFV). The U.S. electric vehicle manufacturer accomplished this feat with one month still remaining in the year.

November alone saw 6,215 Tesla registrations, contributing to a 34.6 percent year-to-date increase. The performance was driven primarily by strong demand for the refreshed Model Y crossover, which benefited from a major update launched earlier in the year. After a slow start in the first quarter, Model Y deliveries recovered sharply from the second quarter onward.
The Norwegian market recorded an exceptional surge in overall car sales during November, rising 70 percent compared to the same month in 2024. Buyers accelerated purchases ahead of scheduled changes to electric vehicle tax benefits starting in January 2026. Fully electric models accounted for 97.6 percent of all new registrations last month, supporting Norway's long-standing target of phasing out new petrol and diesel vehicle sales by the end of 2025.
OFV Chief Executive Geir Inge Stokke commented: "There is a bit of a car bonanza in Norway at the moment."
Norway has played a significant role in Tesla's growth story, becoming the company's first market outside North America more than ten years ago. Generous incentives, including tax exemptions and access to bus lanes, have made the country one of the world's leading adopters of electric vehicles and a key territory for Tesla's European operations.
The strong Norwegian results provide a notable positive development for Tesla amid varying regional performances in 2025. While global deliveries are projected by Visible Alpha to decline approximately 7 percent for the full year, Norway demonstrates continued consumer enthusiasm for the brand's core models when supported by favourable policy conditions and timely product updates.
The November figures reinforce Tesla's position as the top-selling automotive brand in Norway for 2025, extending a pattern seen in multiple previous years. Industry observers expect December registrations to remain elevated as the final wave of pre-tax-increase purchases occurs, potentially pushing Tesla's annual total well beyond 30,000 units in this market of roughly 5.5 million people.
