Wedoany.com Report-Dec.13, INNIO Group, a provider of energy solutions and services, will supply equipment for a 104 MW power plant in Texas, United States, aimed at enhancing grid reliability.

The facility will feature 11 Jenbacher J920 FleXtra engines, each delivering 9.5MW.

The company is collaborating with Greenville Electric Utility System (GEUS) to address peak demand periods and support increased incorporation of renewable sources.

Commissioning of the facility is planned for mid-2027.

Site preparation commenced in early December. The installation will incorporate 11 J920 FleXtra engines, each rated at 9.5 MW, equipped with sophisticated cooling and emissions control technologies.

INNIO Group president and CEO Olaf Berlien said: "This project is a milestone for Texas and for INNIO. With fast-start capability, flexibility, and sustainability, we are creating the energy infrastructure that modern grids need: reliable, growth-promoting, and supporting the expansion of renewables."

The J920 FleXtra engine achieves full output within two minutes, illustrating its rapid response characteristics.

GEUS's commitment to this advanced generation resource serves the expanding needs of more than 17,200 customers in Greenville and surrounding communities.

The plant's capacity will enable management of grid peaks exceeding 125 MW.

GEUS general manager Bill Shepherd said: "This project is more than an infrastructure upgrade; it’s a commitment to supply the Greenville community with fast-start, low-cost, reliable generation for years to come.

"As our community grows, having a power resource that can respond instantly to peak demand is essential. This new plant positions GEUS to ensure long-term reliability, manage costs responsibly, and continue delivering the dependable service our customers expect."

As the longest-established among Texas's 72 municipally owned utilities, GEUS provides electricity to over 16,600 accounts and cable/internet services to more than 5,000 subscribers in its service area.

This development contributes to balanced energy supply strategies, combining responsive conventional generation with ongoing renewable growth.
