Wedoany.com Report-Dec.31, According to data from the Mohan Immigration Inspection Station in China's Yunnan Province, in 2025, the China-Laos Railway inspected over 290,000 inbound and outbound travelers from 110 countries and regions worldwide. Among these travelers, more than 50,000 were foreign nationals, representing a year-on-year increase of over 34%. Notably, over 13,400 of these foreign nationals entered China visa-free, accounting for more than 53% of the total foreign arrivals and showing a year-on-year growth of over 48%.

With the deepening advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative and the continuous expansion of China's visa-free "circle of friends," "China Travel" remains highly popular. The China-Laos Railway has become an increasingly favored mode of travel for many passengers for purposes such as commuting, business, tourism, and visiting relatives. The daily passenger volume on the railway has increased from 20,000 to a peak of 100,000, while the daily average number of inbound and outbound travelers has grown from an initial 300 to over 800. The number of countries and regions from which passengers originate has expanded from over 20 to more than 120.

Since the China-Laos Railway International Passenger Train began operations on April 13, 2023, up to December 31, 2025, it has inspected over 2,800 cross-border international passenger trains and processed more than 710,000 inbound and outbound travelers from 123 countries and regions. Among them, over 55,000 were foreign nationals, with more than 24,000 entering China visa-free. Travelers from Laos, Thailand, and Malaysia ranked the top three in terms of nationality, with sightseeing tourism, business meetings, and visiting relatives and friends being the leading purposes for entry.
