Dr. Salihuddin Ahmed, Advisor to the Ministry of Science and Technology and Finance of Bangladesh, recently stated that the nuclear fuel loading for Unit 1 of the country's first nuclear power plant, the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, is expected to be completed by the end of February 2026. This power plant is a key large-scale project in Bangladesh, and construction is currently in its final stages, adhering to international safety standards.

During an inspection of the project site, Dr. Ahmed affirmed the efforts of the engineering personnel and pointed out that the power plant will play a crucial role in meeting domestic electricity demand, ensuring energy security, and promoting sustainable development. The project's partner, Rosatom, stated that the fuel loading work is progressing according to schedule.
According to project officials, Unit 1 is expected to supply power to the national grid for the first time by the end of March 2026, with an initial capacity of approximately 350 megawatts, which will gradually be increased to around 1150 megawatts. The plant has a total designed installed capacity of 1200 megawatts.
