Wedoany.com News, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) may restart a reactor at the world's largest nuclear power plant, the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant, this Wednesday after completing inspections, according to a recent report by Japan's Kyodo News.

The planned restart involves Unit 6, which has a generating capacity of 1.36 million kilowatts, among the plant's seven reactors. The restart was originally scheduled for January 20 but was postponed as TEPCO investigated an alarm malfunction. The company had previously aimed to achieve commercial operation of this unit by the end of February.
When operating at full capacity, the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant has a total generating capacity of 8.2 million kilowatts. If this restart is successful, the number of reactors currently operational in Japan will increase to 15 (among the 54 reactors shut down after the 2011 Fukushima accident, 33 are theoretically capable of resuming operation).
