Wedoany.com Report on Feb 2nd, Canadian mining company Capstone Copper recently announced that the Mantoverde copper mine in northern Chile has resumed production and operations, despite a union representing approximately 22% of the workforce remaining on strike. The company expects the mine to operate at 50% to 75% of its normal capacity level during the labor dispute.

This resumption of operations was achieved after a period of production interruption. According to the company's report, the previous interruption was mainly due to the inability to access and operate the desalination facility responsible for the mine's water supply. A Chilean court recently issued a ruling authorizing the use of public force to clear the desalination plant within the framework of the labor dispute. This decision created the conditions for restoring water supply operations but also intensified the tension in the negotiation situation.

Capstone Copper reiterated in a securities filing that the Mantoverde copper mine is expected to operate at 50% to 75% of normal output during the strike. Although the union participating in the strike covers about 22% of the employees, production has been able to continue primarily due to the normal work of non-striking shifts and the company's ability to reorganize key functions, particularly those related to water supply, maintenance, and processing.

The company's communication noted that the desalination plant plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational continuity of the Mantoverde copper mine. With the advancement of the judicial ruling and the improvement of water supply conditions, the mine's production activities are gradually recovering to a higher level.
