Wedoany.com Report on Feb 5th, Grupo Noria recently announced the establishment of a new logistics center in Barcelona, Spain, and the deployment of the Skypod Next Gen automation system provided by Exotec by Dexter. This initiative aims to enhance distribution efficiency, optimize service quality for partners and sales channels, while strengthening operational scalability.
By introducing the Skypod Next Gen system, Grupo Noria plans to address challenges in internal logistics and the supply chain, achieving the goals of reducing preparation times and avoiding delivery errors. The system is expected to increase storage density to four times the original, while improving the ergonomics of workstations. Operators can complete order processing without frequent movement, thereby creating a safer and more efficient work environment.
In the initial implementation phase, the Skypod Next Gen system will be equipped with 3 workstations, a dedicated station for inbound goods or replenishment, and 40 robots. The facility will include 41,670 storage containers, providing over 80,000 storage locations, with an overall height exceeding 11 meters.
Néstor López, CEO of Grupo Noria, stated: "Our commitment to innovation and continuous improvement is key to ensuring service quality for our customers. The introduction of Skypod technology marks a significant step forward in the group's supply chain modernization process, which will propel the business to new heights." Federico Peiró, Sales Director of Exotec by Dexter, added: "This project is exciting; it will be the first next-generation Skypod system on the Iberian Peninsula. The system delivery is just the beginning of our long-term collaboration." The highly scalable design of the Skypod Next Gen system supports expanding the dynamic capacity of the logistics center up to fourfold within the reserved space, providing solid support for Grupo Noria's future growth.
