Wedoany.com Report on Feb 6th, Recently, according to internal sources, Xpeng has completed a key organizational structure optimization, integrating the original Autonomous Driving Center and Smart Cockpit Center to formally establish a "General Artificial Intelligence Center." This move aims to bridge the technological foundation between vehicle intelligence and robotics business. The new department will be led by Liu Xianming, the former head of the autonomous driving business, and will report directly to the company's Chairman and CEO, He Xiaopeng, reflecting Xpeng's high-level strategic layout in intelligentization.
The General Artificial Intelligence Center is positioned as a cross-domain core technology organization, covering both vehicle and robotics directions. Its functions extend beyond the original development of intelligent driving and cockpit features, focusing more on the research and training of foundational large models, the construction of unified AI infrastructure, cross-business technology platform delivery, and end-to-end product and project quality management. This will establish a shared technology platform capable of supporting multiple business lines.
According to the plan, the center will empower multiple application layers, including the intelligent driving system, next-generation smart cockpit interaction, and robotics innovation projects, through a unified AI technology platform. This means that the future intelligent evolution of Xpeng's automotive products will share the same AI capability core as its explorations in the robotics field, helping to reduce redundant R&D costs, accelerate technological iteration, and promote synergy in experience and data across different businesses.
This adjustment is seen as a critical step for Xpeng in facing the deepening competition in the industry's intelligentization. By integrating resources and concentrating efforts on general artificial intelligence technology, Xpeng aims to strengthen its "AI-driven" core identity and build a more robust and flexible technological support system for the continuous evolution of its automotive products and the expansion of its future mobility ecosystem.
