The website footnote has been updated from "Price and availability subject to change" to "Price reflects monthly subscription, subject to terms and conditions. Price and feature availability subject to change." This change explicitly mentions the monthly subscription and includes features as part of what may be altered, indicating that Tesla's FSD terms allow the company to adjust prices and features at any time.

The monthly subscription is currently the only way to access the FSD service, starting at $99 per month. Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated last month that the price "will increase as FSD capability improves." Additionally, the Autosteer feature, which was previously standard as part of Autopilot on all vehicles, is now only available through an FSD subscription, further reinforcing the importance of the subscription model.

Tesla has completely discontinued the Autopilot product, which may be related to pressure from the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The agency believes the term "Autopilot" is misleading, as it may imply the vehicle is capable of fully autonomous driving, despite its actual limited functionality and the requirement for the driver to remain fully attentive. California DMV Director Steve Gordon stated: "The DMV is committed to ensuring the safety of all roads and communities in California. The department is pleased that Tesla has taken the necessary actions to comply with California's consumer protection measures."

The update to Tesla's FSD terms reflects the company's shift toward a subscription model, and users should be aware that prices and features may be adjusted at any time.
