Wedoany.com Report on Feb 26th, Dubai Health has established a partnership with Positive Zero to plan the deployment of solar power generation systems across 26 healthcare institutions, with a total capacity of 14.1 megawatts. This initiative aims to support the UAE's sustainable development goals, including the 2050 Net Zero Emission Strategy and the 2030 Dubai Demand Side Management Strategy.

The project will install rooftop solar panels and solar carports, expected to meet most of the electricity demand for the selected facilities. In the first year alone, 13 sites are projected to generate nearly 10,700 megawatt-hours of renewable energy.

Over the project's lifecycle, the clean energy installations could reduce carbon emissions by approximately 167,000 metric tons, equivalent to planting over four million trees. Officials stated that this demonstrates a commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of critical infrastructure while ensuring the reliability of healthcare services.

A highlight of this initiative is the construction of the largest solar carport in the UAE's healthcare sector, which will not only produce renewable energy but also provide shaded parking for nearly 3,000 vehicles, enhancing comfort for patients, visitors, and staff.

In addition to solar deployment, the collaboration includes implementing energy efficiency measures at Al Jalila Children's Hospital. Through a "Cooling as a Service" model to optimize the air conditioning system, it is expected to reduce energy usage by 15% and prevent approximately 9,500 tons of carbon emissions over its lifecycle.

Leaders from both sides noted that this partnership showcases the joint efforts of the public and private sectors to advance sustainable development. By integrating renewable energy, Dubai Health aims to modernize its operations, contribute to national climate goals, and set a regional example for a greener healthcare system.
