RWE's renewable energy capacity under construction in Italy has been increased to 235 MW. This growth stems from new wind and solar projects totaling 123 MW that will commence in 2026, as well as wind and solar facilities with a capacity of 112 MW that will begin construction in 2025. Upon completion, the projects are expected to provide electricity to over 190,000 Italian households.Image related to RWE's renewable energy projects in Italy

Last year, RWE launched its first commercial-scale agrivoltaic power plant in Campania and constructed two significant onshore wind farms in Puglia and Basilicata. Katja Wünschel, CEO of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, stated, "Our construction team in Italy is simultaneously advancing multiple projects: three onshore wind farms, one solar park, and six agrivoltaic facilities are under construction across the country."

She added, "These projects comprise 26 wind turbines and 127,000 solar modules, with a total capacity of 235 MW. They will soon meet the electricity needs of 190,000 Italian households." Specific projects include the 66 MW Alas onshore wind farm in Sardinia, equipped with ten 6.6 MW turbines; and the Ponte Valentino 1 & 2 solar park in Benevento, Campania, with a total capacity of 19 MW AC.

RWE is also constructing four agrivoltaic power plants in Campania, Sicily, and Calabria, with a total capacity of 38.2 MW AC, featuring 50,000 modules installed on elevated or high-tilt structures to support agricultural and livestock activities. The developer plans to monitor performance and collect meteorological and agricultural data at these sites. Furthermore, construction of the 42 MW Serra Giannina wind farm in Potenza, Basilicata, is expected to commence soon.
