Unitree has recently launched the As2 quadruped robot, which integrates industrial-grade strength with artificial intelligence technology, specifically designed for real-world application environments. As the latest addition to the company's robot series, the As2 features significant improvements in torque, runtime, and development tools.

The As2 robot weighs approximately 18 kilograms, with joint torque reaching up to 90 N·m in its highest configuration and a speed exceeding 5 meters per second (about 11 mph) when unloaded. Its torque-to-weight ratio is about 5 N·m/kg, enabling it to climb stairs up to 25 cm high, handle 40-degree slopes, with some models capable of scaling vertical platforms up to 50 cm.
This robot is available in three configurations: Air, Pro, and Edu, each with different performance focuses. The Edu model offers the highest torque and speed, but its peak speed can only be sustained briefly. In terms of payload capacity, the Edu version can support 65 kg when stationary and has a maximum walking payload of about 15 kg; other models have smaller payloads but still maintain practical capabilities. Battery life varies by configuration, with Pro and Edu models using a 15,000mAh battery, allowing for over 4 hours of operation when unloaded and a walking distance exceeding 20 kilometers.
The As2 robot has an IP54 protection rating and can operate within a temperature range of -20°C to 50°C, making it suitable for outdoor and industrial scenarios. Its body utilizes an aluminum and high-strength plastic frame, with legs driven by low-inertia permanent magnet synchronous motors and integrated industrial-grade bearings for enhanced precision.
In terms of intelligent features, the As2 is equipped with an 8-core CPU, and the high-end versions feature the ISS 3.0 Intelligent Following System, supporting centimeter-level positioning and tracking. Pro and Edu models integrate an industrial-grade LiDAR system, while the Air version uses an L2 ultra-wide-angle LiDAR. All versions support connectivity options like Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, and are equipped with speakers, microphones, and high-definition cameras.

For developers, the Edu model supports secondary development, can be expanded with an Nvidia Jetson Orin NX module, and its open platform is compatible with large AI models, enabling autonomous decision-making and interaction. Unitree has not yet announced specific pricing for the As2; all models require contacting sales for quotes, with warranty periods ranging from 6 to 12 months depending on the model. The company reminds users that performance data is based on laboratory conditions, and actual usage may vary, advising to maintain a safe distance during operation.
