On March 3, Zhang Yong, Deputy Secretary-General of the Sichuan Provincial Government and Director of the Provincial Railway and Airport Office, led a team to Chengdu to conduct on-site research on the construction progress of the Chengdu-Chongqing Central High-Speed Railway, the Tianfu to Chaoyanghu Railway, and the preliminary work for the capacity expansion and upgrading project of the Chengdu-Longchang section of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway. The research team visited key sites including the Chengdu Station in the Chengdu hub, Jianzhou Station of the Chengdu-Chongqing Central High-Speed Railway, Jianyang Station of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway, the major bridge crossing the Chengdu-Ren Expressway on the Tianfu to Chaoyanghu Railway, and Pujiang Station, gaining a detailed understanding of the construction progress of ongoing projects and the preparation status of planned projects.

Regarding the advancement of ongoing projects, the research team put forward specific timeline requirements. As a major task for 2026, all participating units of the Chengdu-Chongqing Central High-Speed Railway must anchor the goal of commencing joint commissioning and testing by the end of the year, strengthen collaboration between local authorities and enterprises, ensure resource allocation, and accelerate the construction of main works, municipal supporting facilities, and external power supply. The bridge construction in the Sichuan section of this line was fully completed in February this year. Among the 27 main line tunnels, 26 have been completed, and the project has now entered the stages of ballastless track laying, "four-electric" system installation, and station building construction. The Tianfu to Chaoyanghu Railway is a key project scheduled to open within the year. The Provincial Railway and Airport Office will collaborate with China Railway Chengdu Group to closely follow the schedule, expedite project completion, supporting facility construction, acceptance, and safety assessments, striving to achieve operational opening by the end of October.

For planned projects, the capacity expansion and upgrading project of the Chengdu-Longchang section of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway was identified as an important component of the western main corridor of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor. The research team required that, following the principle of "enhancing trunk line capacity, creating urban space, and improving railway efficiency," efforts should be made to coordinate and guide design units in deepening the research of construction plans, seek support from China State Railway Group, and promote the project to enter the substantive preliminary work stage as soon as possible.

The research team also emphasized the need to strengthen the safety production defense line. It required all construction units to accurately grasp the characteristics of current safety risks, intensify supervision of post-holiday resumption of work and production, urge participating units to standardize operational procedures, and effectively prevent and resolve major risks and hidden dangers. Currently, six major high-speed railway projects under construction in Sichuan Province, including the Chongqing-Kunming and Xi'an-Chongqing lines, have fully resumed work. According to the plan, the Sichuan-Chongqing section of the Chongqing-Kunming High-Speed Railway is expected to meet the conditions for operation this year, while the Chengdu-Dazhou-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway will enter the stages of full-line track laying and preliminary acceptance.
