Siemens Gamesa will deliver 15 MW turbines for the 750 MW Bandibuli (Firefly) floating offshore wind project in South Korea, with plans for nacelles to be assembled locally as part of an agreement.

Doosan Enerbility has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Siemens Gamesa and Equinor for cooperation on the Bandibuli floating offshore wind farm.

With the signing of this MoU, the three parties will be cooperating on the development of the Bandibuli floating offshore wind farm that is being pursued by Equinor, utilising Siemens Gamesa’s 15 MW wind turbines.

South Korea’s Doosan Enerbility will assemble the nacelles at its Changwon facility and deliver them for the project.

“The partnership between Doosan and Siemens Gamesa is recognized as being a most realistic and optimal cooperation model that will help expedite the expansion of the Korean domestic wind market”, said Seungwoo Sohn, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Power Services Business Group.

An MoU was first signed with Siemens Gamesa and Doosan Enerbility in June 2022 on pursuing strategic collaboration in the South Korean offshore wind market, followed by a binding framework agreement for a strategic partnership in February 2023.
